Cultural programme begins with educating young children about the power of mind sports.

Day 1 of the World Mind Games 2014 featured the visit of a local primary school as a core part of the cultural and education programme of the event.  The visit was led by a representative from the Flaming Mountains Junior Chess team and saw the participation of 20 children aged between 9 and 12 years old. During the educational session the children were able to learn more about the mind sports and had the unique chance to play flash chess right next to the competition area. Prior to the event, the children were actively involved in the construction of a statue made of 2000 chess boards and bottle caps. Many more cultural and pedagogical activities are yet to come in the following days!
