6月14日，“北京市中小学火焰棋邀请赛”在京举行。该赛事由北京中小学体育运动协会主办、北京十七中学承办，来自永安里小学、呼家楼中心小学等7所学校的100余名学生参加了这场比赛。

比赛按年级分为高低组，并以团队形式进行，采用数独火焰棋的规则。在比赛过程中，小选手首次吃掉对方棋子时，可获赠一块特为本次赛事烘焙的“火焰棋”饼干，鼓励孩子们取得的成绩。比赛现场始终洋溢着小选手们欢乐、清脆的笑声，让原本严肃的赛场散发着愉悦的氛围。

本次活动有几个第一次，全部比赛用品棋具均DIY；所有工作人员裁判均为志愿者，家长为主；实现零基础参赛，通过团体赛形式老带新，大带小，会的给不会的支招，对手相互支招，友谊第一，没有第二，来参赛人人一样的礼品证书；志愿者培训高效率，“火焰棋”APP是秘密武器。更多孩子参与到火焰棋这项智力竞技运动中，启迪智慧，丰富业余生活

“火焰棋”是将国际象棋与数独、掷骰子等方式结合的一种趣味性玩法，不仅让国际象棋变得简易，更激发孩子的学习乐趣。经过创始人袁德俊及志愿者的推广，火焰棋已有上万小粉丝。而通过用废旧物料DIY火焰棋，并赠送给朋友的独特方式，火焰棋所传递的“环保”、“分享”等理念将得到更广泛的传递。
